How to make your window blinds look like new

Blindingly Clean: How to Make Your Window Blinds Look Like New

Window blinds can add a touch of elegance and sophistication to any room, but they can also be a magnet for dust and grime. Over time, dirt and dust can build up on your blinds, making them look dingy and dull. However, with a few simple tips and tricks, you can clean your window blinds so they look like new again.

  1. Dust blinds regularly The best way to keep your blinds looking their best is to dust them regularly. Use a feather duster, microfiber cloth or a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to gently remove any loose dust or dirt from your blinds. Start at the top and work your way down, making sure to get in between each slat.

  2. Spot clean stains If you have any stains on your blinds, spot clean them with a mixture of warm water and mild dish soap. Dip a soft cloth or sponge into the soapy water and gently scrub the stained area. Rinse the cloth or sponge in clean water and wipe the area again to remove any soap residue.

  3. Use vinegar for tough stains For tougher stains or buildup on your blinds, use a mixture of equal parts water and white vinegar. Dip a cloth or sponge into the vinegar solution and wring out the excess liquid. Gently scrub the stained area, working in a circular motion, and then wipe the area with a clean, damp cloth to remove any residue.

  4. Deep clean with a bathtub If your blinds are particularly dirty, you can deep clean them by using your bathtub. Fill your bathtub with warm water and add a few drops of dish soap and a cup of white vinegar. Take your blinds down from the window and place them in the bathtub, making sure that they are completely submerged. Let them soak for about an hour, then use a soft brush or sponge to gently scrub away any dirt or grime. Rinse the blinds with clean water and hang them up to dry.

  5. Dry with a hairdryer Once you have finished cleaning your blinds, use a hairdryer on a cool setting to dry them quickly. Hold the hairdryer a few inches away from the blinds and use a sweeping motion to dry them. This will prevent any water spots from forming.

  6. Hire Pulirr. We understand there might be no time to spend on cleaning. Why not giving Pulirr a try if you live in Utah? We have an add-on to clean blinds that only costs $26 for up to 5 blinds (no matter the size). We have tools to do this for you in no time.

In conclusion, keeping your window blinds clean and looking like new is easy with a few simple tips and tricks. Regular dusting and spot cleaning can go a long way in preventing buildup and stains, but if your blinds need a deep clean, try using a mixture of vinegar and water or even giving them a soak in the bathtub. With a little bit of effort, you can have sparkling clean blinds that enhance the beauty of any room in your home.
